Marketing is at the heart of our business – it’s how we spread the pladis happiness around the world. We build brands that consumers love and are an important part of their everyday lives. We have a culture of ambition, collaboration, support and flexibility.
As part of our marketing team you could be involved with analysing marketing plans, conducting research and insights and working with external agencies to engage the consumer in our master brands: McVitie’s, Jacobs, Godiva and go ahead! We draw on the strengths, skills and experiences of our people across a team of marketing, innovation, and research professionals.
We’re looking for people who are passionate about understanding consumers and what makes them tick, who relish the commercial challenges posed by working in the UK retail environment, and who thrive on variety in their role. And if you believe that biscuits make the world a better place then you’ll fit right in!
I joined the business as Senior Brand Manager Jaffa Cake and within a very short time I was given the exciting opportunity to take on more responsibility, incorporating the children’s range. I then took on the McVitie’s portfolio, working on Everyday Biscuits & Everyday Treats, before moving to our Healthier Sweet Biscuits. I’ve recently taken on the Head of Chocolate role. I’m really excited about this – I love chocolate and I’m looking forward to the challenges and opportunities the role will bring.
My biggest achievement to date has been the launch of the new McVitie’s master brand advertising campaign. We had to turn it around very quickly, yet it represented a huge strategic change for the business. Working with an internal cross-functional team and an agency cross-functional team, with everyone knowing we were on the cusp of achieving something remarkably different, was immensely rewarding.
Within marketing we’re given the autonomy to take ownership of projects from start to finish which makes you feel like you can really make a difference. We’re given a wide range of projects to work on across a large cross-functional team, and having manufacturing sites in the UK means you can be at any of our sites within about three hours. All of these things make you sometimes forget just what a big business we are – it all feels really personal.
What I really enjoy about working here is that it’s a British institution which has famous household brands that everyone knows and loves! Whatever function you work in, you can see that all the employees are passionate about our products – and everyone has their own favourite.
