Apprentices are a core part of our business and as part of our emerging talent programmes at pladis, we have successfully developed our apprentices across many business areas. We have some fantastic, truly talented apprentices who will be the next generation to lead our company. We want to grow new talent by helping them develop as individuals in ways that will help push them towards the next stages of their careers.
Over the course of the 2 year programme, you will navigate your way through mixing and ingredients to process, packing and to dispatching finished product – all designed to aid your development and get a rounded view of the whole supply chain.
As an advanced operator, you will develop an in-depth knowledge of food and drink products, health and safety systems, quality systems and Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP). You will be trained to interrogate and interpret data to identify trends and carry out basic fault finding. This will help to anticipate potential problems and improve quality and productivity.
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, as well as being awarded a Level 3 Diploma in Food and Drink Operations, you will become one of our highly skilled operators, where further career progression opportunities can open up for you.
During the course of your Food & Drink Engineering Maintenance Apprenticeship Programme at Birmingham Metropolitan College, you will develop into a fully qualified Multi Skilled Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical). In partnership with our training provider, you will learn extensively about the theory and practicality of engineering, whilst developing a strong understanding of what it takes to work in the food industry, whilst gaining the necessary skills and knowledge to be responsible for the mechanical and electrical integrity of the equipment on site. Regular reviews and feedback will help you to become a key member of the team. As you progress through the scheme, you will increasingly have the opportunity to put your knowledge into practice and learn from qualified and experienced engineers.
On completion of your Multi-Skilled Engineering Apprenticeship, you will achieve an NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Maintenance and a Technical Certificate in BTEC Diploma Engineering.
As a qualified engineer, you will gain the necessary skills and knowledge to be responsible for the mechanical and electrical integrity of the equipment on site.
This apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to rotate across different commercial roles, whilst studying part-time for a BA (Hons) Business Studies at the University of West London. On completion of your degree, you will be awarded a Chartered Manager Status qualification (CMgr MCMI).
The rotational placements will build commercial acumen with a focus on understanding our retailers, brands, consumers and channels as well as exploring how our category, shopper and MS&P teams support our business objectives. Roles will include time spent in field sales, marketing, head office sales team as well as our project management team. You will be expected to deliver on KPIs to drive growth in particular channel and / or products, and align plans and strategies to the brand visions.
